Shared Governance Model
The Office of the Provost is responsible for academic affairs at the Institute. The Office of the Provost provides academic leadership, works with the President and the Faculty to assure program quality, and oversees all academic units and the Office of Student Affairs.
The Office of the Provost is led by the Provost, who also serves as the Chief Academic Officer of the Institute. The Provost is responsible for the administration of all Institute academic activities as well as the leadership of the faculty.
The Associate Provost for Academic Affairs provides leadership on academic operations and academic personnel including faculty appointments. The Associate Provost for Academic Affairs also supervises the instructional support operations including the librarian and instructional designers.
The Director of Research Programs provides leadership in the area of faculty scholarship and research and also supports faculty researchers, including overseeing research administration.
Instructional support is provided by the librarian and instructional designers. Administrative support for the office is provided by the Executive Assistant to the Provost as well as several graduate assistants.
The Faculty of the Institute employs a representative model that is led by the Chair of the Senate. The Senate meets regularly throughout the year. Faculty members conduct much of their business through the work of key committees that are outlined in Section II of this document. All of the work of the Faculty is guided by the Faculty Bylaws.
The Dean and faculty members in the School of Nursing provide leadership and oversight of all nursing programs and matters at the Institute. The Dean of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS), along with the faculty members in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, and Physical Therapy, provide leadership and oversight of their respective programs.
