Post-Professional Programs for Post-BSN Registered Nurses (RNs)

  • Applicants without an existing master’s degree are required to submit official GRE scores. The general test is required for admission and must have been taken within five years of the application deadline.

  • Applicants may apply for a waiver of the GRE by submitting the SON GRE Waiver Request Form, along with proper documentation. GRE waivers are reviewed and approved by the Office of Admission, in consult with the School of Nursing, only if an applicant meets specific criteria. Please refer to the “Application Process” section of our website for additional instructions and information.

  • Applicants are asked to provide a copy of all professional state licenses.

Master of Science in Nursing for RNs with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN to MS in Nursing)

  1. All applicants must have completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. 
  2. Applicants must have completed a graduate or undergraduate course in Statistics with a grade of C or higher prior to matriculation. 
  3. The general GRE test is required for admission and must have been taken within 5 years of the time of application.

Doctor of Nursing Practice for Master’s Prepared Nurses (DNP)

  • Requests for personal interviews with the School of Nursing are considered on a case-by-case basis at the time of application review.

  • Applicants who are current RNs with an MS in Nursing who are already advanced practice nurses are encouraged to apply. This includes practitioners in the following areas:

    • Nurse Practitioners

    • Clinical Nurse Specialists

    • Certified Nurse Anesthetists

    • Certified Nurse Midwives

    • Nurse Administrators may apply as well. 

  • Nurse educators who are not advanced practice nurses should apply to the Doctor of Nursing Practice for RNs program instead.
  • Applicants with a master’s degree in a related field will be required to take additional courses. Pre-Application advisement is required. Please contact the School of Nursing for more detailed information.

Doctor of Nursing Practice for Nurse Executives (EDNP)

  • Requests for personal interviews with the School of Nursing are considered on a case-by-case basis at the time of application review.
  • Executive-level nurse leaders and experienced nurse executives who are interested in applying should email a CV to dnp@mghihp.edu.
  • Applicants are required to submit two (2) letters of recommendation. 
  • Applicants are required to submit a current resume or C.V.

Post-Master’s Certificate of Advanced Study in Nursing (CAS)

  • The GRE is not required for admission to this program.

  • Applicants are required to have an existing bachelor’s and master’s degree prior to application.

  • Applicants are asked to provide a copy of all professional state licenses.
