RS 940 Advanced Measurement in Health and Rehabilitation Science

Prerequisites: None. This course is an overview of classical test theory and item response theory, with a particular focus on applying the Rasch model in health sciences and applying measurement principles to evaluating and interpreting measurement tools in rehabilitation research and practice. It will include a critical analysis of psychometric properties of common clinical tests and measures through investigation of measurement properties, including reliability, validity, and responsiveness to change. There will be a review of contemporary conceptual models that critically inform our understanding of diagnosis, intervention, and documentation of outcomes. Additionally, students will gain practical experience by applying item analysis techniques using R/RStudio software.
