Bicycle Racks and Repair Stations

In October 2023, the IHP was presented with a bronze level Bicycle Friendly University award for its efforts to promote bicycling on campus. The following resources are available for students who are interested in biking, either to campus or recreationally.

  • Campus Map: This Google Map includes locations of all bike racks, bike cages, repair stations, and Bluebikes docks on campus.
  • Bike Cages: Students can choose to park their bike in either of the two bike cages located on campus. Instructions on how to sign up for each are shown below. Spots within the cages are available on a first come first serve basis.
    • Building 36 (Shouse) Bike Cage: This cage is located on the East side of the Shouse building. Please open a help desk ticket with the numbers located on the back of your MGHIHP ID badge. Your badge will then be programmed to access/use the cage by scanning it at the entrance.
    • MGH Building 199 Garage Bike Cage: Please contact MGH Commuter Services at commuterservices@partners.org for more information on how to access this bike cage.
  • Bike Registration: The IHP has partnered with Bike Index, one of the largest bicycle registration and theft-recovery sites in the country. Students biking to campus are strongly suggested to register their bike for free. Enter your bike’s information and serial number along with a photo of your bike. Most bike serial numbers are engraved beneath their bottom bracket. Registration helps provide proof of ownership and assists with the return of your bike if it is recovered.
  • Bike Repair Stations: Self-service bike repair stations are located inside Shouse by the building entrance door near the bike cage, in the MGH Building 199 garage, and outside 1 Constitution Wharf by the bike rack.
  • Showers & Lockers: Students can utilize showers at the Harborview Health Club. Towels are sold at the club if needed. Students can contact the Office of Student Affairs and Services at studentlife@mghihp.edu for information on how to receive a free membership. Students can also receive discounted membership at the Charlestown YMCA and have access to shower and locker facilities. Please contact the Charlestown YMCA for more information. Free lockers are also available in 2CW and B36. Please visit the IHP’s website for more information.
  • Bluebikes: Bluebikes is Metro Boston's public bike share program with 3 stations located on the MGH IHP campus as well as over 200 additional stations across Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, and Somerville. MGH Institute of Health Professions is a corporate partner of Bluebikes and provides a 50% discount for annual memberships. To sign up, please complete the following.
