3.2 Innovation Project
The Innovation Project provides an opportunity for PP-OTD students to apply knowledge and skills developed in core courses to address a defined problem affecting health and service access and/or delivery. The Innovation Project is the students’ opportunity to display new skills in planning, development, implementation and dissemination of an innovative solution that will have immediate impact at the system, organization or global level. Students will be required to implement their scholarly response to a professional practice problem, however, implementation may appear differently depending on the specialty area of the scholarly project.
In the Institute’s Post-Professional OTD program, the Innovation Project philosophically represents an opportunity for students, mentors, interprofessional peers, faculty, and health and service organizations to work together on initiatives that will immediately address a system need. In addition, the Innovation Project provides opportunities for students to design solutions that synthesize knowledge, skills, and attitudes acquired through the explicit curriculum, their professional experiences, their interprofessional experiences, and through a virtual learning context.
