DA 730 Analyzing, Visualizing and Storytelling with Data
Prerequisites: None. In this course, students will delve into the principles and practices of effective data communication, with a focus on visualization as both an art and a science. Using real-world healthcare datasets, students learn how to gather, clean, analyze, and present data to convey clear, compelling, and actionable insights. The course emphasizes visual design fundamentals such as color theory, typography, and layout, and also developing technical proficiency in Tableau for creating graphs, dashboards, and interactive visual stories. Through applied exercises and projects, students learn to blend and interpret data from diverse sources, explore advanced visualization techniques, and craft narratives that make complex healthcare data understandable and impactful for varied audiences.
