c. Shared Governance
The model of shared governance recognizes the special role of faculty and ensures that they will be consistently and appropriately involved in the formulation of MGH Institute policies, especially but not only through the participation of the Faculty Senate and its leadership.
The provost, who serves as the chief academic officer, is responsible for academic affairs at the MGH Institute. The president and the board of trustees set the strategic priorities of the institution, enable planning to achieve them, and steward resources for sustained fulfillment of the mission.
The faculty of the MGH Institute employs a representative model that is led by the chair of the Faculty Senate. The Senate meets regularly throughout the year. Faculty members conduct much of their business through the work of key committees that are outlined in the Faculty Bylaws. All of the work of the Faculty is guided by the Faculty Bylaws.
