1. Introduction

The academic policies of the MGH Institute of Health Professions are published in the Catalog, which is available online at the Institute’s website (www.mghihp.edu). Academic policies of the Graduate Program in Communication Sciences and Disorders’ Graduate Certificates in Literacy and Language are presented in this Academic Standards and Policies Manual. Students are required to familiarize themselves with and adhere to the policies and procedures contained in both the Catalog and this Manual. Questions should be directed to the Program Director.

The MGH Institute of Health Professions is committed to ensuring a welcoming academic community for all. Our inclusive environment is enriched by our differences including age, color, disability, gender identity and expression, genetic information, marital status, national and ethnic origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, status as a parent, socio-economic background, veteran or active military status. The Institute prohibits discrimination in admissions, financial aid, employment and administration of its programs and activities.

The Graduate Certificates in Literacy and Language include a 15-credit, fully online Graduate Certificate in Literacy and Language and a 20-credit Certificate of Advanced Study in Literacy and Language (CAS), which prepares candidates for the MA DESE Reading Specialist license. The CAS includes online courses with onsite practicum experiences.
