i. Introduction
The Doctor of Health Sciences (DHSc) program is an advanced professional practice degree for healthcare professionals and administrators who have previously earned a master’s degree in healthcare or health-related fields. This degree is intended to prepare graduates with advanced training in healthcare leadership and/or knowledge, skills, and abilities to thrive as health professions educators. The program represents a terminal academic doctorate experience and compliments graduate-level training for health professionals working in diverse settings, including healthcare practices and systems, academia, public and community health, advocacy and professional associations, industry, and government roles. Specifically, graduates of the MGH Institute DHSc program will be able to:
- Critically analyze and apply the best evidence to create solutions that advance healthcare delivery, education, and research.
- Design, implement, and evaluate projects and programs using appropriate methods to improve healthcare or health professions education.
- Demonstrate the core competencies and principles of interprofessional collaboration and practice in the delivery of healthcare or health professions education.
- Apply best practices as a teacher, mentor, and leader in healthcare or health professions education.
- Advocate for policies and practices that promote equity in healthcare and health professions education.
