Faculty-Student Communication
7.1 Email, Microsoft Teams, and Voicemail
Each student will receive an Institute email address. IHP Email will be one primary mechanism for communication between faculty and students. Students are expected to check their Institute email daily. Failure to respond to email notifications in a timely manner may be addressed as part of professional development discussions. Students experiencing challenges with responsiveness are encouraged to communicate with faculty and advisors for support. No email address other than the Institute address will be used for communication. A second mechanism for communication between PhD-RS program and students/faculty is our Microsoft Teams channel for PhD Rehab Sciences Students and Faculty. Students are expected to set daily notifications and check the Teams channel weekly for IHP and Program announcements, meeting updates, and requests for administrative action. The Teams channel also provides useful links to important forms, information about supplemental coursework options, job postings, etc. and a discussion board forum for posing and responding to student questions. Please use Teams as a way to connect with one another in a professional forum, group problem solve, and share ideas. The Teams Chat function may be used to communicate with the Associate Director about program operations and the Teams Calls function may be used during regular business hours (M-F 8-5) for urgent advising needs.
All faculty members have voice mail. Phone numbers for voice mail are generally available (e.g. through the MGB Telephone Directory on-line). Faculty can access voice mail messages via email when away from the office.
7.2 Change of Address
If a student moves during the school year they must immediately enter the correct information online through IONLINE. It is crucial that the Institute and the Program has the correct phone number and mailing address of all students.
7.3 Emergency Contact Name and Number
Each student is also required to give the name and number of a person the program should contact in case of an emergency. This is updated through IONLINE.
