Master of Physician Assistant Studies
- MGH Institute participates in the Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA). All applicants are required to apply online through the CASPA website.
- All applicants are required to submit official GRE scores through CASPA. The general test is required for admission and must have been taken within five years of the application deadline. The program code for the MGH Institute of Health Professions is 3865.
- All applicants are required to complete the following prerequisite courses with a grade of B- or higher:
- Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II (including labs). One semester of Human Anatomy and one semester of Human Physiology are acceptable.
- Biology (including lab)
- Microbiology (including lab)
- Chemistry (2 semesters including labs)
- Psychology (Abnormal, General or Developmental Psychology are acceptable)
- Statistics
- Applicants may have no more than 2 prerequisite courses in progress the fall semester before starting the program.
- All prerequisite courses must be satisfactorily completed with supporting documentation submitted to the Office of Admissions before starting the program.
- Prerequisite credit cannot be given for courses with a grade of pass/fail.
- All prerequisite courses must be taken at an institution that is accredited by one of the six regional accrediting bodies. Please refer to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation website for additional information.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 1,000 hours or 6 months full-time employment performing hands-on direct patient care prior to matriculation in the program. A minimum of 500 hours must be completed at the time of application. Please refer to our program page in CASPA for specific information.
- Qualified applicants will be contacted and invited to attend interview at our campus in the Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston, MA. Candidates will be asked to submit a writing sample during the on-site visit.
