Health Professions Education - MS - Alfaisal Students
Overview
The MS-Health Professions Education Program at Alfaisal University, with its focus on simulation-based education and simulation operations, provides a unique hybrid course of study for clinicians/educators to gain core competencies while becoming innovative leaders in the education of health professionals.
Guided by recent reforms in health professions education, all courses are delivered in an interprofessional learning environment. This innovative 33-credit MS program builds expertise in teaching, educational research, curriculum design, program evaluation and leadership.
Students in the MS-HPEd proceed through the program with a cohort of health professionals from across the healthcare spectrum, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, occupational and physical therapists, speech language pathologists, and others.
This rich variety of backgrounds brings a wide range of voices and perspectives to learning experiences, creating a truly interprofessional experience. Participants will develop knowledge, skills, and abilities that are immediately applicable and relevant to education within the context of their profession as well as broader team-based settings.
By joining this program, students become part of a community of scholars who are committed to improving education for the next generation of health professionals.
Our unique partnerships with the Harvard Macy Institute, Center for Medical Simulation, and Brigham & Women’s Hospital STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation, enable incorporation of those experiences into training, including access to unparalleled faculty and resources. Work completed in these programs may be applied for up to 12 credits toward degree completion.
The program's hybrid format, consisting of 60-70% in-person coursework and the remaining portion online is designed to cater to the needs of working professionals.
