DA 640 Ethics, Data Security & Regulation

Prerequisites: None. Students will acquire an understanding of the ethical and regulatory components of the health care data analytics ecosystem. Concepts of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion will be used to inform data analysis models that are sensitive to the differences in health beliefs and practices among the different cultures represented in today's patient populations and communities. This course will prepare students to develop models that minimize bias by understanding the ethical concerns around the use, disclosure of health data, and privacy laws. Regulatory topics include developing system specifications and configurations consistent with best practices in cybersecurity and alignment with European Union Privacy Laws and other global laws.
