HP 101 Exploring Health Careers 1

Prerequisites: None. Healthcare is foundational to population wellness with providers serving an integral role in engaging with patients about their well-being. This pre-college course will expose learners to the roles, responsibilities, and education pathways to many different careers in healthcare. Students will be able to apply their learning through discussion of the 6 core competencies of healthcare – patient centered care, inter-professional practice, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and informatics. This course serves as a guided exploration of the pathways to professional careers in healthcare and skill building for success in the college environment. The course will offer varying tracks with a flexible approach to assignments and assessments to ensure that each learner is able to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities that will best support their pathway to a career in healthcare.
