3.1 Program of Study
The MGH IHP Post-Professional SLPD (PP-SLPD) degree program will be offered primarily online, requiring completion of a 34-credit curriculum over six academic semesters. There are eight 3-credit core courses, two 3-credit electives, and four 1-credit Capstone Project courses. Students will take one core course at a time, over a 6-week period. Course work will consist of a blend of asynchronous and synchronous learning methods, including independent self-directed learning, course readings, virtual discussion boards and weekly live discussions. The Capstone Project courses span the entire 14-week semester and run concurrent with core classes. The Capstone Project sequence provides an opportunity to individualize your learning experience by allowing you to target a specific skill set and immediately apply it to your clinical practice.
Students will experience a curriculum that is generalist in nature, which will advance knowledge and skills in clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, program development, academic and clinical teaching, and policy. Mentorship and coursework will support completion of the Capstone Project which is concurrent with coursework. Information about the curriculum, including curriculum paths for the two points of entry, can be found in Appendix A.
