28. Program Responsibilities

The Program is responsible for the following aspects of the educational activities and environment during fieldwork:

  1. Adequately prepare students for fieldwork through coursework, observations, and standardized patients.
  2. Establish and provide fieldwork placements for all students.
  3. Provide general and discipline-specific learning objectives to supervisors and students.
  4. Provide supervisors with training and guidance regarding the supervisory relationship.
  5. Provide the midpoint and final evaluations to the supervisors.
  6. Facilitate all required onboarding for students.
  7. Periodically perform site visits to determine the locations are effective educational environments and to provide and receive feedback.
  8. Instigate and maintain affiliation agreements for all fieldwork sites.
  9. Commit to developing new relationships with supervisors and fieldwork sites.
  10. Interact with all supervisors, sites, and students and be available to respond to problems or concerns. If a problem arises at a site, the Program retains the right to remove a student from the rotation.
  11. Work with supervisors and sites to provide healthy and safe learning environments.
  12. Provide evaluations of the supervisor and site to students following each rotation.
  13. Assign a grade for the student upon completion of the rotation. The DCE is responsible for the final grade, not the supervisor.
  14. Establish and maintain remediation plans as needed.
