Introduction to Types of Fieldwork
Supervised fieldwork experiences are an integral part of the educational program. The Accreditation Standards (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) requires two levels of experience. Level I Fieldwork is designed to provide experiences that complement professional courses in the entry-level portion of the curriculum. Level II Fieldwork is designed to provide in depth experiences in providing occupational therapy services to clients after successful completion of prerequisite academic course work. Level I fieldwork cannot be substituted for any part of Level II fieldwork.
This Manual contains fieldwork policies related to: advising, grades, sequence, professional behaviors and disciplinary action, technical standards, and certification and licensure. Students will be administratively enrolled in the D2L OT Level II Fieldwork Program and Resources site throughout the OTD program until completion of the degree. Each fieldwork course in the curriculum has a dedicated D2L classroom featuring comprehensive resources to support students. These resources include the course syllabus, relevant policies and procedures, onboarding requirements for each clinical site, and assignments related to the course. This setup ensures that all necessary materials are easily accessible for effective learning and compliance with course expectations.
