31.3. Site Visits

At least once during the clinical year, the Director of Clinical Education or Program faculty and staff, will perform a site visit to evaluate a student. This visit will include a discussion with the student and preceptor covering topics such as a review of the clerkship objectives, student performance and progression in the clerkship, the adequacy of the clinical experience, level of supervision, and the feedback process and evaluation instruments. Whenever feasible, the faculty member will directly observe and evaluate the student during a patient encounter.

Site visits may occur more frequently as necessary based on student or site requirements, at the discretion of the Director of Clinical Education.  The purpose of the site visits are to ensure adequate clinical experiences for students in the clinical year of the program, identify opportunities to improve the clinical experience and ensure preceptors have the adequate tools to provide optimal clinical education
