7 - Complaints

Students have the right to submit complaints about non-academic aspects of the AuD program, or the Institute itself, for consideration by the faculty and administration. Complaints should not be confused with personal disputes or other incidents that affect a student’s ability to function in the AuD program of study.  Such incidents should be reported directly to the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) Student Incident Report - Formstack.

7.1 Complaint Process

Complaints should be submitted in writing to the Program Director. The director will forward the information to the appropriate parties for consideration.  While every effort will be made to address the complaint, the student should not expect an immediate response.

7.2 Format of Complaints

The complaint should describe the issue in detail with a detailed explanation of the circumstances and any supporting documentation. The written complaint and all written communication between the advisor and the student will be placed in the designated “Complaints” file within the CSD Department.

7.3 Consideration by AuD Faculty

The complaint will be presented to the AuD faculty at the next regular faculty meeting. The faculty will decide if the complaint has merit and act accordingly to address the issue.

7.4 Appeal to CSD Faculty

If it is determined that the complaint has little or no merit, the student may submit a petition to the chair of the CSD Department for discussion during the next department-wide faculty meeting. The student will be notified by the CSD chairperson within one week of the faculty meeting.  If the complaint is still not addressed to the student’s satisfaction, the student may follow the appeals procedures outlined in the Institute Catalog.
