5.1 Student Engagement Policy
Student engagement is expected in all DA courses. Instructors will communicate course-specific expectations at the beginning of each term. While engagement may vary slightly by course and assignment type, the following standards apply across the program:
Students are expected to:
- Log in to the D2L course site regularly
- Engage with course material on a weekly basis
- Respond to instructor emails in a timely manner
- Submit all graded work by the stated deadlines
- Communicate proactively about any challenges affecting participation or assignment completion
- Seek clarification on course content as needed
The DA program recognizes that students may encounter extenuating or unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, communication with instructors and/or the Program Director is expected. Professionalism and accountability are core to the program; therefore, extended absences or lapses in engagement without communication are considered inappropriate and may result in academic or administrative consequences.
Engagement is the responsibility of each student. While program personnel may reach out to students who are not meeting expectations, students are ultimately accountable for their own participation and progress. The DA program adheres to the Institute’s academic calendar regarding registration, grading, and refund policies.
