5.6 Artifical Intelligence Utilization Policy
The DA program recognizes that generative AI tools (e.g., large language models) are becoming essential in data science and healthcare innovation. Students are encouraged to explore and responsibly use these tools—especially for coding, ideation, and problem-solving—as part of their professional development.
However, students are expected to understand and adhere to appropriate use within academic contexts. Specifically:
- Students must follow assignment-specific guidance from instructors regarding acceptable AI use.
- Students are fully responsible for any content submitted, including reviewing AI-generated code or text for accuracy and originality.
- Proper citation and disclosure are required if AI tools contributed substantively to any assignment.
- Confidentiality must be protected; students must not input private or sensitive information (including patient data or peer/instructor names) into public AI tools.
Use of AI in a way that undermines independent learning or violates course guidelines may be considered a breach of academic integrity and referred for further review in accordance with Institute policy.
