3-3 Clerk

The Clerk shall be elected and will serve a one (1) year term as Clerk with the expectation that he or she shall succeed to the Chair-elect in the following year, and to Chair of the Faculty in the year after that. The Clerk shall be custodian of the Senate records, prepare and distribute the agenda and minutes of Senate meetings and shall perform such additional functions as assigned to the Clerk by the Chair or Chair-elect.

The Clerk shall be the Chairperson of the Reference Committee, as described in Article 4.4 below, to receive and format Senate motions in preparation for distribution to the Faculty. The Clerk shall serve as the ex-officio Parliamentarian of the Faculty unless another individual has been designated by the officers. Parliamentary authority for the Faculty Senate shall be consistent with Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised, provided these Rules are not in conflict with the Faculty Bylaws.

In the event of a vacancy in the office of the Clerk, the Nominating Committee shall conduct a special election to fill the position.
