4-3 Conduct of Business
(a) Meetings of the Senate
(i) The Senate shall meet at least three (3) times per academic year.
(b) Order of Business
(i) The Order of Business shall be carried out in accordance with the operating procedures described in Appendix A hereto.
(ii) Except as otherwise provided, the Faculty Senate meetings shall be conducted in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order Revised.
(c) Quorum
(i) For meetings of the Senate, a quorum consists of sixty percent (60%) of the elected or appointed Senate members. This quorum definition remains in effect for all Senate meetings in that academic year.
(d) Previous Notice
(i) Written notice of the agenda for Senate meetings, including items of business, must be provided to each Senate member and Faculty member at least ten (10) business days prior to the scheduled meeting.
(ii) Motions brought forth to the Senate must be provided to each Senate member and Faculty member at least ten (10) business days prior to the Senate meeting.
(e) Requirements for Voting
(i) Except as may be otherwise provided by these Bylaws, a simple majority of the Senate present shall be decisive.
(ii) In all cases, voting shall be by voice, show of hands, or electronic means, except where a motion for written ballot is passed.
(iii) Proxy voting shall only occur at the direction and authorization of a Senate motion. In the event of a vote where proxy ballots have been authorized, proxy votes will be the responsibility of the Nominating Committee as directed in the Standing Rules approved by the Senate (“Standing Rules”).
(f) Installment and Removal of Senate Members and Officers
(i) Officers of the Faculty and Senate members shall be installed and committed to service at the June Faculty meeting.
(ii) Officers and Senate members shall be subject to removal from office only by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Senate.
