HA-625 Healthcare Planning and Operations: Optimizing Quality, Efficiency, and Performance

HAH-630. This foundational course presents the major components of health care services delivery, facilities planning and operations management in outpatient, inpatient and procedural areas. Topics include planning and management of capital, operating and facilities budgets, revenue cycle, cost accounting, payer contracting, patient flow, capacity and throughput, human resources, supply chain and inventory management, and emergency preparedness and business continuity. The legal, regulatory, risk management, and ethical considerations in care delivery and operations management are explored, including HIPAA, relationships among patients, providers, payers and institutions, fraud and abuse, and bioethical issues. Learners are introduced to tools and metrics for analyzing productivity and performance.
