OH-776 Assistive Technology in OT
Prerequisites: Successful progression through Summer 2 of the Entry-Level OTD curriculum or permission of the instructor. Assistive Technology in Occupational Therapy will explore the use of assistive technology across the life course in multiple contexts. Topics will include universal design, funding, and legislation related to AT, combining devices innovatively to meet the needs of the client, AT in educational environments, hacking devices to improve accessibility, ergonomics, and creating custom devices. This hybrid course will appraise evidence for interventions, and explore current AT practice issues in the news and social media. Emphasis will be placed on interprofessional collaboration and client centered practice.
