NS 523 Ethical and Political Influences on Nursing Care
Prerequisites: None. This course introduces students to basic ethical theories and health care policies. There is an orientation to principle-based ethics, the inter-relationships among the process of policy development, and the application of political and ethical knowledge to clinical decision-making for baccalaureate-prepared nurses. Students will learn the principles of ethical decision-making through the nursing lens and analyze health care policy from organizational, socioeconomic, legal, ethical, political, and historical perspectives.
