BH 402 Pathways in Practice: Ethics and Values

Prerequisites: None. This course explores the ethical foundations of healthcare practice, with a focus on applying core principles-autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice-to real-world scenarios. Students will analyze ethical dilemmas in patient care, public health, and biomedical research, and reflect on the role of personal and professional values in ethical decision-making. Topics include informed consent, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and cultural humility. The course equips students with a framework for ethical reasoning and introduces the values that underpin professionalism in health sciences.
