Expenses and Budgeting

Students are responsible for all expenses associated with fieldwork education. Fieldwork education, especially a full-time fieldwork experience, typically involves some expense to the student. The cost associated with a given fieldwork education experience will depend on many variables including, but not limited to, the cost of transportation, housing, and meals. Application and onboarding fees may also be required of some fieldwork sites. Students are advised to plan and budget for such expenses, as students can expect to be assigned to fieldwork facilities requiring temporary relocation and travel outside of the public transportation system.  It is highly suggested that students meet with the Financial Aid office during their first year to plan for third year expenses throughout the curriculum.

Since Level II fieldwork is an unpaid, full-time commitment, students are advised to plan their finances carefully. Given the intensive nature of Level II fieldwork, it can be difficult for students to maintain employment without impacting their academic progress. Therefore, it is wise to prepare a long-term budget that accounts for living expenses, transportation, and social support during this time. This planning helps ensure that students can fully focus  their fieldwork responsibilities. Please note that OT 761 and OT 762 are 6-credit courses required by ACOTE and are crucial for preparing students for entry-level occupational therapy practice. While these clinical placements take place in settings distinct from traditional classroom environments, they are integral parts of your educational program. Students will be responsible for the tuition costs associated with these credits.
