31.1.2. Preceptor Evaluation of Student

The primary preceptor will evaluate the student’s performance in the clerkship experience. The evaluation will assess medical knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes and behavior. Students must achieve a “satisfactory” or better grade in all three domains in order to pass the course. While preceptors provide important assessment of student learning and performance, the assignment of a final grade for a clerkship is the responsibility and determination of the Director of Clinical Education (DCE) or other PA faculty member assigned to oversee the specific clerkship. The DCE may gather additional information from the student, preceptor, and/or clinical site in the determination of a final course grade for a clerkship and to ensure objectivity and fairness in grading.
