4.3 Clinical Training

During the first year of training, students complete 7 credits of clinical observation and practicum under the supervision of clinical audiologists. Training during this year takes place in the pro bono clinic through the Audiology Collaborative for Better Hearing (ACBH) and at Mass Eye and Ear (MEE) starting in the satellite clinic in the Impact Practice Center and then the main campus.

In the second year, students complete 9 credits of internship (3 per semester) at partner clinics in the Boston area (e.g., Boston Children’s, Boston VA). Students will earn ~350 patient contact hours through successful completion of these clinical assignments. Performance in all clinical practicums and internships is assessed using a pass-fail grading system based on benchmarks specific to the level of expected clinical progress.
