Program Academic Performance Policies and Expectations
The Occupational Therapy Department Committee on Academic Policies and Procedures (CAPP) is focused on student growth and development in knowledge, skills, and attitudes across the curriculum. Students may be referred to CAPP in instances when students or groups of students fail to meet program standards regarding academic performance or professional behavior, if expectations related to a corrective action are not met, and / or when Notifications of Concern are issued (See Section on Professional Behavior Actions). Written notifications from the Committee to students may comprise oral and written warnings, educative letters, and follow-up documentation of resolved concerns/requirements.
In cases where a student’s academic progress, conduct, or standing is under review by CAPP, all relevant materials may be considered to inform the committee’s deliberations. This includes but is not limited to: advising notes, faculty communications, email correspondence, academic records, and other documentation maintained in accordance with institutional policy. Consistent with FERPA and the principle of legitimate educational interest, these materials may be accessed and reviewed by committee members to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the student’s circumstances and to support informed, equitable decision-making.
