2-4 Conduct of Business

(a)        Meetings of the Faculty

As a collegial body, the Faculty shall hold at least two (2) meetings during the academic year. As an elected representative body, the Faculty Senate, as more fully described in Article IV below, shall hold at least three (3) meetings during the academic year. Each standing committee of the Faculty shall hold at least two (2) meetings during the academic year to conduct the business of the Faculty with which it has been charged.

(b)        Quorum

A quorum consists of thirty percent (30%) of the regular Faculty at the beginning of the academic year. This quorum definition remains in effect for all faculty meetings that academic year.

(c)        Previous Notice

Written notice of the agenda for Faculty meetings, including items of business, must be provided to each Faculty member at least ten (10) business days prior to the scheduled meeting.

(d)       Requirements for Voting

Except as may be otherwise provided by these Bylaws, a simple majority of the Faculty shall be decisive. In exceptional cases in which there has been fewer than ten (10) days of previous notice on a particular item of business, a two-thirds (2/3) vote of those present at the meeting is required to put the item on the agenda for faculty action. In all cases, voting shall be by voice, show of hands, or electronic means, except where a motion for written ballot is passed.
