7 - Curriculum Mapping

The AGC program of study satisfies the ASHA scope of practice expectations for Audiology Assistants (Appendix B). The 32 criteria in the scope of practice align with the 8 criteria specified by the Massachusetts Board of Registration (Appendix C). Of the 23 courses required for the Doctor of Audiology program, 5 contain the necessary content for the certificate program. A complete curriculum mapping to the 32 standards in the ASHA Scope of Practice is provided in Appendix D. Mapping was guided by the amount of effort in instruction required to meet each standard. Four standards (A6, A7, A8, A10) are very broad while the remaining 25 standards are much narrower. Table 2 summarizes the curriculum mapping by topic area in the ASHA scope of practice. Note that the ASHA-to-MA state criteria are not exclusive.
