9.1 Appeals
Students maintain the right to petition the Graduate Certificate Program for any variance from standard policy or procedure. Students have the right to appeal course grades, disciplinary action, and dismissal from the program. The appeals process should be pursued when all other options have been exhausted (e.g., speaking with the instructor about a graded assignment, complying with the recommendations of the faculty following a CARST, etc.). When considering an appeal, the student should immediately consult the program director. While the decision to submit an appeal is ultimately that of the student’s, it is advisable to determine if there is sufficient cause for the petition so that the advisor can advocate effectively throughout the process.
