Schedule for Full-time Fieldwork Courses
Minimum Requirements (Schedule) For Full-Time Level II Fieldwork
ACOTE requires that students complete “a required minimum of 24 weeks (about 5 and a half months)’ full-time Level II fieldwork.” Given the course sequence in the IHP Entry-Level OTD program, Level II fieldwork is completed through two full-time placements, each at least 12 weeks long, during the Summer 3 and Fall 3 semesters. Full-time Level II fieldwork requires students to be on-site for a minimum of 35 to 40 hours per week for a minimum duration of 12 weeks, in accordance with the fieldwork site's definition of "full-time.” Therefore, participation in Level II Fieldwork involves a schedule that is commensurate with full-time work.
Part-Time Level II Fieldwork Policy
For fieldwork settings with part-time schedules that involve less than 35 to 40 hours per week, the Program requires extending the placement duration to meet the full-time requirement for the degree. Level II fieldwork hours are determined by total full-time week equivalents. Students will work with the fieldwork office to determine how they are meeting fieldwork hour demands. For examples of how to calculate the required number of weeks, refer to the following table:
