4.1 Faculty Advisor
Each student will be assigned a Faculty Advisor upon matriculation and through their course of study at the MGH Institute. Faculty advising is a collaborative planning process through which students plan and organize their study and post-graduation goals in a meaningful way. The advisor will:
-
Meet with their assigned advisees once per semester, at a minimum, to review student progress in the Program and provide academic counseling when necessary.
- Advise students about relevant Institute and Program academic policies.
-
Review the student’s curriculum and academic record regularly throughout each semester, and provide academic counseling when necessary.
-
Advise regarding courses, Fieldwork, standardized patients, and Capstone research.
-
Review JEDI Growth Plan at each meeting, in addition to academic supports such as Academic Support Counseling, Accessibility Resources, Office of Student and Alumni Services, student incident report, JEDI Office, Student Government Association, etc.
Students should meet with individual faculty in specific courses to discuss challenges related to course content. Students are encouraged to meet with their faculty advisors to discuss issues regarding personal concerns that may impact learning and professional development. Students should also feel free to approach the Program Director at any time to talk about issues related to the Program and their experience. Additionally, the Director of Clinical Education (DCE) is a resource and advisor related to any Fieldwork and clinical and non-clinical education needs/topics.
