8.3 Remediation
If a student struggles in a course for any reason, a meeting(s) with their course faculty, Faculty Advisor, and/or Program Director will occur. Most challenges can be addressed via regular touch-points between student and faculty. However, a Notification of Concern may be implemented, with potential for a Remediation Plan. A benefit of TBL is that there are regular assessments of student learning via frequent quizzes (a neurocognitive science approach proven to aid in long-term retention of information), so that student progress can be monitored weekly, as opposed to learning mid-semester that a student is struggling via a mid-term examination. Please see earlier section 6 “Remediation”.
