6.2 Courses
If a student’s course grade becomes at-risk, the instructor and Program Director will meet with the student to discuss an individualized plan for success like a Notification of Concern (and possible more significant remediation plan) as soon as possible to improve the student’s performance in the course. If a student struggles in a course for any reason, this meeting will occur to best identify pathways for students success. A benefit of TBL (team-based learning) is that there are regular assessments of student learning via frequent quizzes (a neurocognitive science approach proven to aid in long-term retention of information), so that student progress can be monitored weekly, as opposed to first learning mid-semester that a student is struggling via a mid-term examination. Please see future section 8.3 “Team-Based Learning, Remediation”.
